Position: Research Lead, West Africa, AD# BI 21/14

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Ensure project adherence in the field to general research design, sample selection, data management and analysis, and overall project management.
Oversee project financial management.
Work with relevant departments to ensure sound human resource development and operational management of projects.
Directly supervise and mentor project researchers (Research Associates, Research Assistant, Field Supervisors), and help with continuation and on-boarding of new research staff.
Promote inter-project best practices and take a lead in sharing the best practices with projects through periodical meetings and training opportunities.
Attend meetings with development organizations, universities, and government officials.
Support the dissemination of results via presentations and reports to academic and non-academic audiences.
Maintain effective communication among BRAC entities in different location.
Educational Requirements:

Postgraduate degree, preferably PhD, in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, Rural Development, or any other related field.
Experience Requirements:

At least five (5) years of experience in conducting social science or economic field research. Experience in Africa is strongly preferred.
Experience in supervising data collection, teams of field workers, and survey design and implementation and conducting field research in developing countries.

Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse constituencies
Strong budgeting and financial management skills
Strong written and oral communication skills and complete fluency in English
Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with randomized controlled trials
Ability to identify relevant partners, maintain existing relations, and build new linkages and effectively facilitate stakeholder processes on poverty issues
Experience with data management, statistics, and advanced knowledge of Stata or any other statistical packages
